Topsail Hill Preserve State Park
We are at Topsail Hill Preserve State Park for a week. Our week is "winding down" The above picture is of our campsite. The truck is behind the Airstream because there wasn't enough room in front once we got parked.
If you are a camper you will notice that in this picture you can't see other campers. This is unusual. In private campgrounds a picture like this would show many other campers. The folks who designed and who maintain this park went to great lengths to have trees and foliage between the sites and the sites are not small as compared to other campgrounds.
So the "pros" of this campground are...
Sites are well spaced and have foliage giving you a feeling of privacy.
The State Park has a beach nearby which is undeveloped. The beach is beautiful white sand! You can ride your bike to the beach or take the tram. "Undeveloped" means that there are no buildings along the shoreline like the private parts of the shoreline.
Coffee shop on the property. Pam loves the coffee shop. She goes every morning and gets her coffee there.
Convenient to Walmart, CVS, Whole Foods, Cracker Barrel, etc.
Some bike and walking paths / trails inside the park. Large sidewalks and pathways along the roadways outside the park.
New bath house
Full hookups.
Plenty of workers all of whom are ready to help.
You are in Florida!!
"Cons" are...
You are in Northern Florida so in the winter it can get below freezing. (See post on frozen water pipes.)
Very popular, so it is hard to get reservations.
It has become more populated as the years have passed. Once you leave the park there are lots of people.
There are other State Parks nearby. They have their own "personalities". All of them are difficult to get reservations to stay.
